It was fun yesterday to dress up. It was fun to get in a costume and be something else for a few hours. I could be anything. It was fun to see the creativity and imagination of so many others. It was fun to get in the spirit of dress up and make-believe.
Yesterday, my day started at 6am. I woke up knowing that today, 'get the rocket boosters on' because its going to a full on day. From start to when I sat down (or what felt like the first time I sat down was 8pm. Ever had one of those days? yes, that was yesterday.
When I did sit down, it felt good, but not good enough. I was still in full costume. My costume was tight with a heavy headpiece and dense earrings. I ached to sit down, I ached to eat, BUT I didn't like the way I felt - tight, heavy, and dense.
So I changed right away out of costume.
"What? All that work getting in to costume, only to take it off?" I say to myself or a voice - you decide.
"Take it off!!" - I say also to myself - "Feel light, free and joy."
So I did, I took it all off - sat in my cozy pants and most cozy top and ate a delicious sugar free, three course halloween meal pot luck style.
And I guess this is where I boycotted Halloween - I chose to take off my mask.
And today, on All Saints Day I asked myself this - "Why even put the mask on in the first place?"
Today I tried that, I chose to see the light side of me, what I am without the mask.
Turns out this is me. And I'm still getting to know me.
In this ever changing world, the only constant is me, which is why I keep coming back, peeling off the mask and finding me. Village is a place to do just that, a practice of taking off that mask. Come back to your constant here.
Turns out, wearing a mask feels pretty heavy. Today, on all Saint's Day - I celebrate the revealing of whats underneath the mask.
Please join the tribe at Village this Saturday guided by Erin Allen and her peaceful and strength yoga. We begin every Saturday at 9am and you are so welcome here - and your friends, too - lets lay our masks down together.
In Gratitude, Becky
