Betabrand

Every once and a while I step out of yoga gear. On this day I wore a dress gifted by friend and stylist Julie founder of Fox & Hanger. And on this day I got to tell a story of a dress dying to be seen... And a story of a girl who was dying to be seen. On this day, was one of the most special days as I was the guest speaker at my favorite fashion company Betabrand. It's not very often we have the opportunity to publicly give thanks to those who have helped us, to the individuals who give their gifts and may never know why or see the return. And I got to do that, on this day. I got to thank the entire team of Betabrand for their gifts, so this girl could heal, dream, play big, be seen. You see, I was the girl dying to be seen. I was the beautiful dress stuffed away in the closet, too afraid to come out and shine. And then I was dying. So I got brave and I came out and said, use me, wear me, I want to be seen, I want to live. About the time I was getting brave and peeping out of the closet, one of the designers at Betabrand got creative and made this paw print polka dot dress. Little did she know that that dress and I would end up on a billboard in San Francisco. Little did she know that was a dream of mine.

So on this day, this early Wednesday morning I came out, unafraid to be seen. And got to tell my story, give thanks to the many parts played in my story, in my becoming. So here's the thing, so many times we do our work. And it feels unseen, unnoticed or we don't know why. But know this, you are working for the Glory of God. The good work you do is changing someone's life somewhere. With each stitch, each stroke, each dish washed, each step YOU are changing someone's life. You have a huge impact. I know it can seem like a drudge sometimes, but we need you to do you, be you, do your work, you play an important role. You are a stitch in this beautiful fabric of life. You are needed. I'm so grateful I had this most special day, to come out, to give thanks, to be seen. And as for me, I will no longer let the fear of being seen keep me from my living my beautiful life. Thank you to all those who played their part. Badgley Mischka.
